21"(53 cm.) All cloth doll depicting a distinguished gentleman,having stitch-shaped features with oil-painted complexion and facial features,shaded blue eyes,thick black upper eyeliner,thickly- stitch-shaped brows,closed mouth with stitched hair moustache and wig,muslin body with stitched-on argyle stockings,wearing black wool flannel suit with silk lapels,pique vest and shirt,and leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent,hair a bit sparse. Comments: according to research by Billie Nelson Tyrrell,the doll represents Maurice Barrymore (1849-1905),the patriarch of the Barrymore acting family. Value Points: handsomely artistically executed features of the distinguished gentleman.
