16"(41 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with deeply set eye sockets,intaglio-carved painted eyes outlined pale blue with white eyedots and black upper eyeliner,single stroke brows,upturned nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth,light brown mohair wig (may be original) with original coiled braids,all-wooden spring-jointed body,antique costume comprising plaid cotton dress,linen apron with pockets,undergarments,tan leather shoes with grommet-edged holes in holes,stockings. Condition: generally excellent with minor rubs on nose and lips,finish worn on hands. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. jan.17,'11 USA & All Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut,circa 1911,from the rare series of models sculpted by Graziano,the model was produced for 6 months only in 1911. Value Points: extreme rarity of the model enhanced by superb detail of sculpting especially of the eyes and prominently- sculpted ears; the model is described in Schoenhut Dolls by Carol Corson as "arresting in her beauty".
