Description
13"(33 cm.) Each has pressed felt head with highly-characterized painted features of the comic
pair enhanced by well-defined laughter lines,felt hair,muslin body,sculpted hands. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: maker unknown,circa 1935,the pair depict Laurel and Hardy in
their roles in the 1933 film "Sons of the Desert". The English-born Stan Laurel (1890-1965) and
American Oliver Hardy (1892-1957) starred in short reel comedy films in the 1920s and went on
to full-length wildly-popular comedies throughout the 1930s,among the most popular of these
being "Sons of the Desert". Value Points: well-preserved pair of dolls with original costumes
including their felt Shriner's hats for the convention they weren't supposed to be
attending,according to the movie plot.
