12" (30 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned to the side, brown sculpted hair waved loosely from her face and gathered in a casual bun at the back crown, large enamel eyes, closed mouth with wide smiling expression, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted stockings and shoes, wearing silk costume comprising peach and emerald green silk brocade with gilt metallic trim, apron, and holding a metal lidded tureen in her outstretched hands. Condition: generally excellent, some professional restoration to fingers. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s, the figure was created for presentation in a village scene. Value Points: unique charming expression enhanced by exquisite painting of facial features, rare accessory and costume.
