25"(64 cm.) (excluding hat). Having one-piece molded head and torso with sculpted and painted facial features,her head up-tilted and turned to the right,blue painted eyes in well- defined sockets with heavy lids,painted brown curly lashes,brown painted brows,accented nostrils,open mouth with painted teeth,brunette mohair wig in short bobbed curls,slender torso and limbs. Condition: generally excellent,some typical fading. Comments: Lenci,circa 1923,the doll is an apt rendition of the silent screen actress,Ruth Roland,including facial sculpting and painting,hair color and style,and even her original Western cowgirl costume made famous by her leading roles in the 1920 "Ruth of the Rockies",1921,"The Avenging Arrow"and 1922,"The Timber Queen". Value Points: extremely rare model in well-preserved condition,wearing well-detailed cowgirl ensemble of wool felt and silky velvet plush,with applique designs inspired by Native American weaves,chaps,gloves,suede boots and a wonderful large hat. An early button "Ruth Roland,Pathe"with sepia photograph of the star is attached.
