20" (51 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features,blue side-glancing eyes
with brown painted upper lashes and blue eye shadow,single-stroke brows,accented nostrils
and eye corners,closed mouth with very full lips,blushed dimpled chin and cheeks,brunette
mohair wig in side braids,felt body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: circa 1925,according to research by Billie Nelson Tyrrell,the doll
represents the silent screen actress Clara Kimball Young,probably in her 1922 role in "Enter
Madame" wherein she played the role of Prima Donna Lisa Delle Robia. Value Points: pristine
condition of the early studio cloth doll,wearing her original metallic silk costume with lace
apron,shawl,and sleeves,elaborate jewelry and hair comb,and having a Clara Kimball Young
button with photograph of the actress having her hair in this exact style.
