24"h. x 26"w. x 21"l. The wooden-framed theatre has a lithographed paper design with
elaborate scenes and architectural details,paper curtain side panels,and a very rare and fine
cloth front curtain (that raises and lowers) with a hand-painted scene of woman and cherubs.
There are five double-faced backgrounds,6 small backgrounds,and two scripts and play
information along with characters from those plays. One is "Gotz Von Berlichingen,written in
1773 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe,based on the memoirs of the adventurous historical
figure,Gotz Von Berlichingen,who rallied against society injustices,and the other is William
Tell. The characters are heavy card stock with die-cut edges and lithographed designs,and
each is tacked to its original wooden stand,with the name of the character appearing on it.
Very good condition,original papers. The theatre appeared in the catalog of J.F. Schreiber in
1893.
