5"(13 cm.) The one-piece all-bisque figure depicts Admiral Peary and companion hugging a
globe of the world,with the North Pole evident in the outline. Each figure has painted facial
features,sculpted moustaches,and hooded winter suit heavily crusted with "snow". Peary's
discovery of the North Pole set off an excitement within the doll and toy industry,resulting in
many childhood playthings,most famously the line of snow-crusted little bisque children known
as "Snow Babies". The example,of the explorer himself,is considered the rarest of the series.
