Description
6 1/2"(17 cm.) and 8". Each has paper mache head with sculpted caricature features depicting
the comic strip characters,including distinctive noses,moustaches,bug eyes,and bald pate or
molded hat,with original ball-bearing metal bodies allowing for infinite articulation,paper mache
hands and feet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (Bucherer mark on torso). Comments:
Swiss,the dolls were made by the Swiss watchmaker,Bucherer,using their skills and knowledge in
the use of ball-bearing movements,circa 1910. Value Points: well-characterized dolls with
original finish,wearing their factory original costumes,and including a vintage sheet music "Mutt
and Jeff in Panama"from 1913.
