30"(76 cm.) Composition shoulder head depicting an adult man with strong facial shape,pronounced nose,high forehead with neat side-parted brown painted hair,thick brown brows,painted blue eyes with white eyedots,black and brown upper eyeliner,closed mouth in slight smile with row of painted teeth,small brown painted moustache,muslin body,composition gloved hands,faux feet with brown boots,wearing (probably original) checkered cotton shirt,bandana,red pants,boots,belt. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1920s,according to research by Billie Nelson Tyrell,the doll represents John Barrymore,and the likeness is remarkable although no documents exist to support or refute this. Value Points: very rare composition doll with excellent quality of sculpting,very fine original finish.
