Description
15"(38 cm.) Bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, sculpted bobbed hair and bangs, brown glass
sleep eyes,painted short fringed lashes,rounded nose,tiny bow-shaped mouth,porcelain
teeth, composition body jointed at shoulders and hips, nicely re-costumed in Patsy style dress.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 127/Germany (head) Effanbee Patsy Joan (body).
Comments: the bisque head,an exact model of Effanbee's composition Patsy, was likely the
precursor of the popular 1930s doll; a series of two or three dolls in the Patsy/Skippy genre were
created in Germany in the late 1920s and early 1930s,but appear not be have been put into
general production as they are rarely found, and usually,as this example, with assembled bodies.
