Description
13"(33 cm.) Composition head with ebony black complexion,sculpted short curly hair,painted large white circles around the side-glancing eyes,nose with dangle ring that matches the two earrings,white circle around the closed mouth,black muslin body with composition lower arms,fleecy wraps at elbows and ankles,shell necklace and colorfully-fringed hip sash. Condition: generally excellent,few minor paint flakes on whites and hands. Marks: Oo-Gug-Luk,Zulu Lucky Doll,Trademark by J.W. Long,c. 1915 mfg'd by Louis Amberg & Sons NY. Comments: Amberg,circa 1915,the Charlie Chaplin face was used for the model,although there appears to be no other connection with him. Value Points: an all original doll with label,costume,unique facial painting.
