31"(79 cm.) Felt swivel head of slender-faced adult lady with elongated throat,her painted blue eyes modeled half-closed with heavy lids and painted curly upper lashes,closed mouth,brunette mohair wig,elongated torso and limbs,legs modelled with bent knees for possible seated pose. Condition: generally excellent,hat may not be original. Marks: Lenci ... (foot label). Comments: Lenci,circa 1925,according to research by Billie Nelson Tyrrell,the doll represented Dorothy Gish,of the famous Gish silent film actress sisters; although the Lenci firm did not market the doll with that name,it is likely that the Gish style inspired the doll. Value Points: rare large model wearing original costume with unusual voluptuous bosom,comprising felt-trimmed organdy gown with taffeta bows and trim,undergarments,black felt heeled shoes and feathered black felt hat.
