18" (46 cm.) Having earthenware head the distinctively sculpted facial features,sculpted brown hair in neat style,deeply-set eye sockets with incised age lines,painted brown brows,closed mouth with very full moustache,muslin body with earthenware hands and sculpted black shoes,wearing original blue woolen military costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1900,the doll portrays a particular (but unidentified) British military figure from the period of the Boer War,1899-1902. Value Points: superb sculpting of highly-characterized portrait features in well-preserved condition.
