4"(10 cm.) The barrel-shaped necessaire has alternating bands of tortoise shell and mother-of-
pearl,framed by narrow gilt bands and spiral rope gilt garlands,having cast bronze petal-shaped
feet and bail handle. The necessaire opens to mauve-silk lined interior fitted with repousse silver
plated scissors,needle case,awl,pick,and thimble. Excellent condition. French,circa 1865.
