16"(41 cm.) Composition socket head,brown sleep eyes,painted lashes and brows,open
smiling mouth,four teeth,dimpled cheeks,brunette mohair curly short wig,all-composition
body with jointing at shoulders and hips,wearing her original tagged pink organdy
dress,undergarments,shoes and socks. Condition: generally excellent,hair slightly
mussed,socks loose,paint wear on upper torso. Marks: Baby Jane Mme. Alexander (head)
Universal Starlet Baby Jane,Madame Alexander. Comments: Alexander,circa 1935,the doll was
made for a very short time only. She portrays Juanita Quigley (1934-1983),whose film name
was Baby Jane; her first important role was Claudette Colbert's three year old daughter in the
1934 film,"Imitation of Life"and her last important role was only 11 years later,as Elizabeth
Taylor's sister in "National Velvet",after which her career ended. Value Points: very rare doll
with well-preserved original finish,rare head sculpted for this model only as indicated by the
signature,and original costume. Included are two autographed photographs of her.
