15" (38 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead of lady with oval face and elongated throat, slightly-modeled bosom, sculpted grey hair up-swept with blue hair band capturing an elaborate arrangement of curls, painted blue down-cast eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, aquiline nose, closed mouth, muslin upper torso and upper arms, dangling muslin legs below hooped arrangement allowing for use as powder jar cover, porcelain lower arms with expressively-posed fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1910, from the series of dolls introduced at the 1908 Munich Art doll exhibition in the category of "decoration dolls". Value Points: very fine detail of sculpting, especially of hair, wearing original silk costume.
