Description
2"(5 cm.) -4". Contained in their original box with lithographed design on the lid,are seven
characters from "Our Gang",each all-bisque with nodding-style heads (except dog) and each
with sculpted and painted costumes. Each of the characters has its incised name on the
back,and is still tied to the box except Jean Darling. Condition: generally excellent,the original
painting is well preserved with rich colors and no wear. Comments: "Our Gang"(otherwise
known as The Little Rascals) began in 1922 as short subject silent films for Hal
Roach,continuing into full-length sound comedies until 1944,and considered ground-
breaking boys and girls,whites and blacks together in playful routines. Some of the characters
from "Our Gang"such as Jackie Cooper went on to other film careers; during their later years
Billie Nelson Tyrrell became acquainted with several of them. Value Points: beautifully-
preserved rare dolls in their original box.
