19"(48 cm.) Posed upon a crepe paper decorated stand with circle background,is a wax portrait
doll of Charlie McCarthy,jauntily holding his monocle to his eye as he appears to contemplate a
wonderful scene,having sculpted reddish-brown hair,brown side-glancing eyes,painted
features,padded armature body with crepe paper tuxedo costume including boutonniere and
white gloves. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Art Shop (gold paper sticker).
Comments: from a series of celebrity dolls created exclusively for The Art Shop of the
1920s/1930s trendy hotel,The Ambassador. The dolls portrayed many of the celebrities that
partied at the famed Coconut Grove night club at the hotel.
