15"(38 cm.) and 17". Each is wax head with sculpted and painted facial features,and armature wrapped bodies,the larger with black mohair wig,brown side-glancing eyes and wearing elaborate crepe paper Japanese traditional costume,and the smaller with uniquely-painted hair having a skull cap with circlet spit curls at each side of thread,in dancing pose with exotic Turkish style costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1920,the dolls were made exclusively for The Art Shop of the Ambassador Hotel,home of the 1920s "in- crowd"Coconut Grove night club. Value Points: beautifully-modeled exotic dolls,the actresses and roles that they portray remain a mystery.
