Description
40" x 42" x22" (actual house) 72"h. with stand. A wooden-framed house with arched cut-out card stock to form windows at the sides, and open front, features four large open rooms, each on each floor flanking a wide center hallway with a very high staircase with detailed railing leading to the second floor. The two lower-floor rooms are actually each divided into two smaller rooms, each suggesting an anteroom with its private cloistered area behind. There is a extensive fretwork trim including a railing around the roof line with four corner posts, forming a railing in front of each room, and edging the window ledges at the sides. The actual rooms are 15"h. and would beautifully display dolls in the 10"- 12" size. The house has a separate wooden platform with tapered legs that perfectly displays the house,if desired. Excellent condition structurally, the interior has original or early wall papers that are extensively worn, the floors are natural wood. Continental, the house was acquired by The Boys' Collection from a Spanish estate,mid-19th century.
