Description
12" (30 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features, very chubby cheeks, large blue eyes in rounded shape, painted curly upper lashes, dash brows, button shape nose, bow-shaped lips, brunette mohair hair in soft curls, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lenci (original paper label). Comments: Lenci, late 1930s, the doll was marketed as "La Modestina" and appeared in different sizes including a large googly-eyed model. Value Points: the doll wears original teal, pink and ecru felt gown with elaborate appliques, organdy undergarments with green felt applique striping, green felt shoes, yellow sunbonnet with felt flowers, and carries a cardboard hat box labeled "Amore".
