Description
51" x 19" x 21". A wooden doll box with two rooms
is well-constructed with dove-tailing at each
corner and shaped edging; with original
cream/ochre exterior painting and a
superbly-painted interior to simulate various
stoneware,bricks,and wood panels. The larger room
has yellow painted bricks above lower panels with
painted marbleized panels and ochre borders,and
the floor is a heavily-textured patterned painted
design. The smaller room has cream walls in large
blocks to simulate stone and a different,yet also
highly textured,pattern. There are built-in
cabinets,shelving and plate racks in the larger
room,and the smaller room features built-in grey
painted furniture. The kitchen has original
accessories,utensils and dishes including 51
pieces of early German stoneware,25 pieces of
copper including molds,pots,bowls and other
pieces; there is a butcher block with
cleaver,wooden salt box,and various utensils
including rarities such as carved-bone pie
crimper. A carved wooden doll of the same era is
in the kitchen. Excellent condition. Germany,early
19th century,the original painted walls and floor
and superbly-preserved,and the contents are
original and plentiful.
