Description
24" x 12" x 11". The wooden-framed store with
papered exterior and narrow white front columns
with gold accents has original papered walls and
papered floor to simulate wood grain. Counters and
drawers line the back wall and there is a gilded
metal spiral stairway at the side that forms into
a mezzanine that runs across the top back. The
stairway has an elaborate filigree balustrade. A
glass lamp with brass stem hangs over the
store,and there is an original counter with
build-in scale. The back drawers have original
white paint with gold stencil and silver labels
with names of food and spices. There is an
original Maerklin tin paper roll,various early
food tins,11 glass candy bottles,other food
stuffs,and two bisque doll house ladies in
attendance. Excellent condition,original papers
and painting,some wear to paper floor.
Germany,circa 1900,the store in notated "20" on
the underside,attributed to Kindler and Briel;
another example of the identical model is shown in
Cieslik,Lexikon der Puppenstuben,page 110. The
metal spiral staircase is very rare.
