Description
22" x 12" x 11". The wooden-framed one-room shop
has original ochre painted exterior with
natural-stained front columns decorated with red
stencil striping. The interior cabinets are also
natural wood with red stencil trim. There are two
side cabinets with open shelving trimmed with
carved shelf-aprons in an elaborate fashion,and
paneled bases. The back display extends the entire
wall with two sections of six spice drawers
centering an open display niche that contains a
matching etagere to showcase special delicacies. A
spindled gallery extends across the back and
sides,and shapely columns flank each section of
drawers. The drawers have white porcelain labels
with black lettering and porcelain knobs,An early
scale with brass trays is included. Very good
condition,some wear of original wall and floor
papers,wooden finish is excellent. Germany,circa
1890,the actual piece is shown in Kohler's
book,Christian Hacker. The center etagere is very
rare,and the spice labels contain some rarities
such as "malzzucker" (malt
sugar),"geb.Aepfel","rosinen",and "tandis".
