Description
30" x 19" x 21". A large wooden room with
decorative side columns has a painted parquet
floor and early hand-printed wall paper. There is
a beautifully-shaped 20-step spiral staircase at
one side,with curving banister,that opens to a
wide portrait gallery mezzanine. The room is
fitted with a set of elaborately-carved
Gothic-style wooden chestnut furniture with
natural finish,silver hardware and pulls,and blue
silk upholstery,comprising large buffet,hall
mirror with marble shelf,unusually-shaped dining
table,five tall-back chairs and a grand settee.
There are also an oak clock,large ceramic parlor
stove,gilt wire bird cage,two oval framed
prints,umbrella stand,tin coal scuttle,various
pewter dishes,blue glassware,serving pieces,and
three paper mache dollhouse dolls,viz. the parlor
maid,the manservant,and the aristocratic lady
awaiting her dinner guests. Excellent
condition,beautiful construction of
staircase,original finishes and papers,fine set of
wooden furnishings. Germany,circa 1900. The room
has been a particular favorite of The Boys'
Collection,named "Dinner for One" by them in
reference to the classic British play.
