Description
8" (20 cm.) h. bed. Of lightwood with natural
finish,the furniture is decorated with gilt paper
and cutout floral decoupage which is generously
applied to simulate hand-painted or inlay designs.
The set includes a canopy day bed with ormolu
canopy crown and with original lace canopy,blue
tufted bed cover and pillows and a richly gilded
canopy support; armoire with mirrored front and
opening door with blue paper backing; pedestal
square table with rounded corners,and superb
decoupage trim; and four side arm chairs with blue
tufting and gilt paper edging. Excellent
condition,beautifully preserved. The furniture was
made in Germany,and shipped to France where it was
upholstered,fitted and decorated by the Badeuille
firm who specialized in these pieces,for the
French market. Circa 1875.
