Description
27" x 35" x 15". The three-story wooden dollhouse
has original painted finish of pale ochre with
yellow strips,painted faux curtained windows on
the sides and painted basement windows,four-angled
red roof with inset attic eave,There are two
double-stack chimneys and detachable wooden front
steps that lead to the front porch with banister
railing,porch,and opening front door. The second
floor has a matching balcony with railing and a
set-back opening door that is framed by a large
original trellis. The house is trimmed with
tacked-on original shutters. The interior has four
rooms plus two large elevator rooms and each is
wall and floor papered with original papers; in
addition the curtains are original in each room.
There is a deluxe double-passenger elevator in the
center rooms that extend from the first floor to
the attic,with a heavy card-stock frame having a
sliding door for access; the elevator is finished
with lithographed paper to simulate exotic
woods,and operates from a crank at the back of the
house. There is some original Gottschalk furniture
in the house,of painted white wood with gold
accents,notably a bed with two night
stands,bathroom sink and tub,kitchen table and
chairs. Excellent condition,typical light paint
rubs and dust. Germany,circa 1912,Moritz
Gottschalk,the elevator was presented as a deluxe
accessory in their extensive line,and this example
is notable for the unique size and luxury of the
model. In well-preserved original condition,with
original finish,papers and curtains.
