Description
26" x 14" x 11". The wooden framed store with
original cream-painted exterior with brown painted
front columns and store shelves edged with gold
accents,is constructed with an opening back
door,and has a back wall of built-in shelving,and
two side shelves in Art Nouveau style,along with a
matching counter. A brass lamp with glass beads
hangs over the counter. The walls and floor have
original paper with unusual design and borders.
The shop is fitted with a wonderful array of
lady's finery related to weddings,including seven
porcelain mannequin heads with various
veils,various antique bonnets,boxes of
lace,trim,bouquets of flowers,a pair of porcelain
pots with flowering plants,mirrors,other wedding
ephemera,and a bisque lady doll in original satin
gown,with another glass-eyes bisque doll stands at
the counter. An antique brooch pin that in
inscribed "Sophie" is pinned to the wall.
Excellent condition,some typical wear to the store
original papers. Germany,circa 1910,the store is
by Moritz Gottschalk,inscribed "434/8" on the
underside; the contents are antique,a wonderful
nostalgic memory of "Sophie's Wedding".
