Description
5 " (14 cm.) The wooden cabinet with lithographed
paper cover to simulate rosewood and with rich
lithographed gilded design depicting two winged
angels or mermaids along with various ship and
anchor motifs,above the words "Schutz dem Handel"
(literally,"safe the trade"). There is a bone
handle and shelved interior. Excellent condition
except piece missing at center crown.
Germany,Walterhausen,possibly D.H. Wagner,circa
1880,the sense of the words is mysterious.
