sleep eyes,painted lashes,short feathered
brows,accented nostrils,little rounded nose,closed
mouth with outlined lips, brunette mohair bobbed
wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Germany
19R24 L.A. & S NY 97.2/3. Comments: portrait doll
of the Hollywood silent film star,Baby Peggy
Montgomery,considered a silent precursor to
Shirley Temple; her first film "The Darling of New
York" in 1923 appeared when she was 3 1/2 years
old,and it is this firm that is referenced on the
original tag on her dress "Baby Peggy The Nation's
Darling." Sadly, her career was short-lived; by the
age of 8 she was finished. Value Points: rare doll
with excellent bisque and painting,an apt
resemblance to early photographs of the child, this
model wears original costume with original paper.
