15" (38 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged
bisque shoulder plate,almond-shaped blue glass
enamel inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted
lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced
ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid
poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips,knees,and
elbows,stitched and separated fingers,costumed in
the 1868 French style in fine navy blue and
maroons silks with matching
bonnet,undergarments,shoes,stockings. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: attributed to
Dehors who,in 1867,registered his system for
allowing the doll to tilt her head side to side,or
to nod,as well as swivel. Value Points: superb
artistry of the facial modeling and painting,very
sturdy and clean original kid
body,extra-articulations of head allowing
realistic and pleasing poses.
