Description
15" (38 cm.) largest. Each has paper mache head
with solid dome painted facial features,the
largest with narrow brown painted eyes,the others
with painted black eyes in half-moon shape,closed
mouth (the largest with two defined teeth),and
painted pate (the larger with grey painted pate
and tuft of black hair bangs),muslin body,paper
mache lower limbs,glued-on silk stockings and
shoes (excepting the larger). Condition: very
good,some typical minor scuffs and rubs. Comments:
Chinese,circa 1920,the larger has paper label
"Made in China" on jacket,hat,pants,shoe soles and
hat,and has a red stamp on torso "China
Crafts...(illegible)". Value Points: wonderful
expressions on the nearly century-old dolls,each
wearing its original silk embroidered
costume,three with gilt medal ornaments on their
hat,one with maker's signature.
