Description
17" (43 cm.) Carved wooden head with solid
dome,flat-cut neck socket that pivots on torso
dowel,well-defined features with carved eye
sockets,closed mouth sculpted as open
though,painted facial features,black pate under
original tacked-on wig,sculpted
ears,highly-defined torso with modeled
bosom,sculpted definition of chemise with sculpted
stomacher form,dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips,and knees,well-defined hands
and feet. Condition: structurally excellent,the
original finish is extremely worn and
re-painted,wig is original but very worn.
Comments: Continental,early 18th century. Value
Points: very rare early doll with sculpted
stomacher form. The doll has a blue ribbon award
from 1993 UFDC national convention.
