Description
22" (56 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head
with painted black pate,black enamel inset
eyes,delicately-painted lashes,arched feathered
brows,accented nostrils,open mouth with two upper
and two lower teeth,tongue,brunette mohair wig
arranged within a coiffe and having two ringlet
curls at the front,pink kidskin poupee body with
gusset-jointing at hips and knees,wearing antique
silk and woolen costume,undergarments,silk
slippers,coiffe. Condition: generally
excellent,complexion fresh and well-preserved,body
very sturdy. Comments: French,circa 1840. Value
Points: beautiful early doll that is
wonderfully-preserved,with two blue ribbon awards
from UFDC conventions,one from 1954 along with
corresponding letter indicating that the doll
belonged to early UFDC luminary Nina Davies at
that time,and was photographed in September 1954
issue of Doll News.
