Description
25" (64 cm.) All-wooden doll with finely-carved
facial features,hair and body,featuring short
black sculpted hair with deeply-defined curls
surmounted by a decorative comb with gold
decorations and having fine stippling detail of
hair around the forehead,elongated throat,sculpted
ears,painted brown eyes,beautifully-shaped
nose,closed mouth,sculpted detail of gown-bodice
edge,all-wooden body with adult lady
shape,swivel-waist,dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,painted cream
lower arms and legs,orange shoes,wearing 1830-era
style costume of vintage fabrics. Condition:
structurally excellent,the painting is so pristine
as to indicate long-ago restoration although none
is indicated through black light analysis.
Comments: Grodnertal,Empire period,circa 1810.
Value points: exceptionally beautiful face with
regal presence,rare detail of sculpted hair,large
size,and rare waist swivel. Ex-collection of
