Description
31" (79 cm.) x 31". An oil-painting on canvas
depicts a mother seated at her toilette table
aiding her daughter in the choice of a ribbon. The
daughter is seated on the floor alongside a large
open box that is filled with more ribbons. Each is
wearing a finely-detailed period costume including
accessories such as coiffe or hair comb,and with
buckled shoe or hankie,and the faces are
exquisitely detailed. Background elements include
a large window with fading daylight,large trumeau
mirror with painting,draperies,and a mirror and
toilette table laden with toiletry jars and puff.
The painting is unsigned,stretched on original
wooden frame,unframed. Excellent original
