12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head,amber brown glass
paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading,dark
eyeliner,painted curly lashes,rose-blushed eye
shadow,brush-stroked and multi-feathered
brows,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with outlined
shaded lips,upturned lip corners,pierced
ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French
composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed
body with straight wrists. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: R 4/0 D. Comments: Rabery and
Delphieu,circa 1884. Value points: in pristine
unplayed with condition,having beautiful
complexion and bisque,the brown-eyed bebe has
early original body and is presented in the base
of the original presentation box which is edged
with paper lace and red silk ribbons; the box
contains an assortment of original couturier
costumes: maroon silk dress,maroon velvet tall
bonnet with plumes and silk ribbons,maroon woolen
sailor-style dress,rose sateen jacket,and a white
pique ensemble with exquisite handwork comprising
taufling wrap,jacket,cap and bib. The bebe wears
her original crisp muslin chemise and woolen
knitted booties. A French newspaper,dated 1885,is
laid in the box. The doll was a blue ribbon winner
in the 1999 UFDC national convention.
