20" (51 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered
platform is a bisque-headed doll with brown glass
paperweight inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,lushly-painted lashes,brush-stroked and
feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth
with outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair
wig over cork pate,carton torso and legs,bisque
forearms,antique costume,bonnets,shoes,Condition:
generally excellent,costume is antique albeit not
factory-original,mechanism and music function
well. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head).
Comments: Leopold Lambert,circa 1890. When
wound,the doll turns her head and nods downward at
the little woven dog cage that she holds,then her
arm lifts the cage door and a white furry dog
emerges,while music plays. Value Points: charming
automaton with timeless puppy theme,beautiful
bisque doll.
