Description
23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump
facial features especially of cheeks,chin and
throat,spiral-threaded blue glass inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted curly lashes,arched feathered
brows accented eyes,pointy-tip nose with shaded
nostrils,closed mouth with pronounced accented
lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig,cork
pate,French composition and wooden
eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight
wrists,silk costume in the antique style included.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bte SGDG 4
(head) Sch (in shield on derriere). Comments:
Schmitt et Fils,circa 1880,referred to by
collectors as Schmitt's "third model" in reference
to the very expressive character like features and
original toddler-length body. Value Points: among
the rarest of the Schmitt dolls,with superb
definition of features especially notable around
the mouth and cheeks,fine quality of bisque and
painting,and original body and body finish.
