17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head,brown glass enamel
inset eyes,delicately-painted lashes and
brows,rose-blushed eye shadow,accented eye
corners,closed mouth,outlined pale lips,pierced
ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,French
wooden lady body with shapely
torso,loose-ball-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips
and knees,jointed wrists,metal hands. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: 4 (head). Comments:
Petit & Dumoutier,circa 1877,the distinctive body
was used for their doll only,with metal hands; the
body is shown in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls
by Theimer,page 459. Value Points: very rare model
with lovely presence,brown eyes rare for
poupees,original wig,superb antique
costume,undergarments,jewelry,shoes signed C.M.
and jewelry. The doll has a blue ribbon award from
2008 UFDC convention.
