Description
9" (23 cm.) doll. 14" x 10" box. A light-wood box, with lithographed paper cover and scene of children bathing their dolls, hinges open to a well-fitted interior centering around a bisque head doll with glass inset eyes, open mouth, mohair wig, paper mache body jointed at shoulders and hips, painted black stockings, wearing muslin chemise. In various other compartments are found cleaning supplies and laundry tools including wooden scrub bowls and brushes, cast iron irons, soaps, towels and more, and on the inside lid are arranged various doll clothing including a pretty dress and undergarments. Marks: 1909 13/0 (and horseshoe mark). Comments: for the French Etrennes market, circa 1900. Value Points: fine state of preservation of the well-fitted toy.
