Description
7" (18 cm.) doll. 12" x 10" box. A wooden box with
patterned paper cover and lithograph on the lid
depicting a student at his work,silver edges and
clasp,opens to a well-fitted interior,containing
an all-bisque doll with glass eyes,open mouth,four
porcelain teeth,blonde mohair wig,loop-jointed
bisque arms and legs,painted blue stockings and
shoes,original school boy costume; set within an
arrangement of school room objects: globe,leather
satchel,slate and chalk,note books,wooden
ruler,folio,inkwells,maps,and various paper awards
for good behavior. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: the arrangement was presented in Paris
department store Etrennes catalogs at holiday
time,circa 1900. Value Points: rare presentation
gift set with wonderful contents designed to
inspire a young student toward the joys of the
schoolroom,beautifully preserved and rare.
