13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of elderly woman, sculpted grey hair with tendrils of hair at forehead and then swept behind the sculpted ears into a brown cap with grey hair bow, deeply-incised age wrinkles, strong jaw and chin, closed mouth with one modeled tooth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted red stockings and black clogs, wearing original blue and gold silk folklore costume. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, attributed to the workshops of Lorenzo Mosca.
