Description
21" (53 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with
oval-shaped face and elongated throat,black
sculpted hair in centerpart with hair drawn
smoothly around the edges of forehead and forming
into three long ringlet curls above each ear,the
remainder of her hair drawn back and captured in a
small tightly-braided chignon at the back of her
head,painted facial features,extreme
upper-glancing painted blue eyes,black upper
eyeliner and brows,closed mouth with
richly-painted lips,old muslin stitch-jointed
body,leather arms,wearing antique cotton dress
with patterned "coffee bean"
design,undergarments,leather boots. Condition:
generally excellent,nose tip rub,reinforcement of
left leather arm. Comments: Germany,circa 1840.
Value Points: very rare coiffure that is
beautifully detailed,most unusual and original
painting of eyes,original finish
throughout,original body and fine old costume.
Included with the doll is an early wooden chair
with tapestry seat.
