Description
18" (46 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with rich ebony black complexion,amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes,dark eyeliner,black painted brows and lashes,accented nostrils,closed mouth with coral-shaded lips,pierced ears,black mohair wig over cork pate,French black composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose 8 (incised mark). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1883,the rare marking indicate production just prior to the "depose E.J." markings; the doll appears in the book The Beautiful Jumeau,and a blue ribbon award from 2008 UFDC convention. Value Points: exceptional clarity of complexion on the flawless bisque with gleaming patina,beautifully-painted lips,original wig,body,body finish,and wearing fine original Moroccan costume including jewelry and head-dress.
