Description
22" (56 cm.) All-wooden doll has sculpted head
with heart-shaped face,very pronounced elongated
throat and modeled bosom with defined bodice
ridge,brown painted pate,deeply-sculpted painted
brown eyes with decorative glaze to appear as
though enamel eyes,strong nose,fringed upper
lashes,single-stroke brows,shaded nostrils,closed
mouth,well-sculpted pronounced ears,shapely torso
with extended-length upper torso,dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,elegantly-posed
fingers,shapely lower legs,painted pale rose
slippers. Condition: generally excellent,original
finish,nose rub,original tack holes for wig at
forehead rim,structurally excellent. Marks: (early
ink script on front and back torso). Comments:
Grodnertal,late 18th-century. Value Points: superb
sculpting with highly-refined aristocratic
demeanor,shapely body with sculpted bosom,original
finish,rare larger size.
