14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head,intaglio blue eyes with large black pupils,well-defined eye sockets,brush-stroked brows,pronounced rounded nose,closed mouth in wide beaming smile with painted teeth and tongue tip,brunette mohair wig in side coiled braids,Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent,some light body retouch. Marks: Dep T.H. Germany o9. Comments: Theodore Hornlein of Sonneberg,this is likely the DRGM that he registered in 1909 as "character doll head",his contribution to the art character reform movement of that year. Value Points: very rare character with wonderfully-expressive features,choice bisque and painting,wearing antique woolen embroidered folklore costume.
