Description
22" (56 cm.) All-wooden doll with heart-shaped
face,very elongated throat,sculpted ears,black
painted pate with stippled curls around the sides
of her face,under elaborately-braided brunette
human hair wig,painted brown upper-glancing
eyes,painted upper lashes,single-stroke
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth,shapely
torso,elongated limbs with dowel-jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees. Condition:
generally excellent,some typical light craquelure
on original finish. Comments: Grodnertal,circa
1820. Value Points: the beautiful large doll with
well-preserved original finish including cheek and
chin blush,stippled curls,is wearing her superb
original silk costume decorated with silk flowers
at her hair,waist,and in the little basket that
she carries; she has nailed-on original leather
shoes,fitted long kidskin gloves,dainty pearl
necklace and earrings,and holds her own tiny
all-wooden Grodnertal doll which also has an
original costume. The doll has a blue ribbon award
from 2001 UFDC convention.
