28" (71 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of adult
lady with oval face and elongated throat,black
sculpted hair in elaborate coiffure known as
"Apollo's Knot" with wide poufs of curls at each
side,and an elaborately arranged braided topknot
at the crown,painted teal blue eyes with shaded
coloring,black upper eyeliner,single-stroke
brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed
mouth,slender kid body with wooden lower limbs.
Condition: generally excellent,original finish
with very minor craquelure,some body
reinforcement. Comments; Germany,circa 1840. Value
Points: very rare grand size,rare
coiffure,original finish and painting,superb
original costume of unusual fabric with abstract
floral transfer design. Ex-Gladys Hilsdorf
